Black Belts Promoted by Marcus Soares

When Marcus Soares arrived in Canada in 1997, he promised his very first students that he would not leave until he had promoted at least one Canadian to black belt. Nearly 30 years later, that promise has grown into a legacy of black belts who have become instructors, academy owners, competitors, and ambassadors of authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu across Canada and around the world.

Each black belt represents years of dedication, perseverance, and the passing of a tradition that began in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, under Carlson Gracie. Today, that lineage continues through the students who carry those values forward on and off the mats.
