There are a lot of good reasons to take up an MMA class. However, we realize that not everyone who is checking out our class offerings is familiar with mixed martial arts, beyond what you might have seen on television. So, here’s a short list of all the reasons you might want to check out our MMA classes. Reason #1 – Fitness Without a doubt, mixed martial arts fighters have to be in excellent shape. And if you think about it, it’s not just because they have to make weight for a fight. Virtually every fighter in every weight class looks about as ripped as an extra from the cast of 300 when they step in the ring. And for good reason… MMA classes offer some of the toughest fat-burning workouts you’ll find anywhere. Mixed martial arts, also known as MMA, is a martial art and combat sport that has risen from relatively humble beginnings. Once a pay-per-view spectacle, MMA has become a legitimate sanctioned sporting event that is enjoyed by millions of fans the world over. And, it’s also a martial arts practice that is rapidly gaining popularity with people from all walks of life. Jiu-Jitsu Training: Gi vs No-Gi

Why do I say that?  Because training with a Gi your possibilities of variations and reactions are endless and you will prepare your mind to assimilate the techniques with a better understanding.  Also, the transition from Gi to No-Gi is very easy and smooth while the opposite is very complicated and many people get totally lost. It’s very rare people who train No-Gi feel comfortable to put a Gi on to spar, and I’ve never heard about a person that only train No-Gi to win a gi tournament in high level divisions.  Now, when you talk about guys that just train in a Gi competing in the most prestigious No-Gi Tournaments (Abu Dhabi) you will find them winning every single weight category. I’ve been involved with Jiu-Jitsu since 1970 and I’ve experienced myself training without the Gi with the best of the best Luta Livre (ground fight system practiced in Brasil without the Gi), and I can tell you that even with only 3 years of experience of Jiu-Jitsu at the time, I’ve had epic battles with … Continue reading
